European Social Survey | Findings brochure
February 10th, 2009
Since 2001, the European Social Survey (ESS) has explored public attitudes and informed public policy. Their award-winning survey maps changes in social values, beliefs and attitudes across more than 30 countries. An authoritative source of data, its findings are quarried by international academics, researchers, politicians, policy makers and journalists.

To broaden its appeal, and to further highlight its achievements in quality and innovation, Engage was commissioned to develop a publication that brought this intricate data to life. Behind all the statistics lay groundbreaking stories of social change just waiting to be told – something we showcased as part of a unique ESS narrative.

Taking its cue from the world of consumer publications, political broadsheets, and thought leadership, the end product was something both intellectual and accessible. Bold illustrations highlighted key findings through conceptual and thought provoking visuals, and our editorial team worked closely with design to develop an approach that was clear, simple and easy to navigate. As the ESS continues to develop and innovate, so too will our approach to communicating these unique findings as a creative partnership.

“From our point of view, this was an ideal collaboration involving mutual input into, and influence over, an essentially joint product. We greatly appreciated the productive to-ing and fro-ing towards our destination and learned a lot en-route. We are extremely pleased with the result. Many thanks to your team.”
Professor Sir Roger Jowell, Director of the ESS
