Costain

Development of an award-winning employee magazine and production of a ‘brand book’

Costain has been at the forefront of UK and international construction since 1865 – responsible for building the Channel Tunnel and the Thames Barrier, among many other major construction projects. With thousands of employees and stakeholders in various locations throughout the UK, the company’s quarterly magazine Blueprint is crucial in keeping these individuals informed of Costain’s strategic direction and its many successes. Engage has built a relationship over more than a decade with Costain, publishing the multi-award-winning Blueprint and, more recently, supporting a programme to increase awareness of the Costain brand values through the creation of The Costain Brand Book.

Transport for London (TfL)

Campaign: A new way to work

TfL approached Engage because they wanted a scheme that would enable London-based small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) to promote sustainable transport options to their employees.

We started by researching how best to reach businesses and employees most effectively and, after analysing our results, we created the ‘a new way to work’ campaign. The distinct look and feel of this campaign was then applied to a wide variety of marketing materials and campaign merchandise.

Recognising the benefits for the environment and our employees, we signed up to the scheme too!

Housing Corporation

Development and launch of a new, high-impact magazine

The Housing Corporation’s new title needed to spearhead the repositioning of the organisation as a world-leading authority in the housing sector, and address perceptions of the organisation as staid and lacking in dynamism and innovation. The Housing Corporation wanted a high impact, design-led publication that would engage with opinion leaders across the sector.

Acting as contract publisher on the project, we took the objectives of the Housing Corporation and used them to inform every part of the new publication’s development. We initiated a comprehensive creative development process involving extensive consultation between our design team and a representative sample of the target audience, commissioned and managed all of the journalists, wrote and edited all of the copy, art directed all of the photography, and managed every aspect of the print and distribution.

The result was a high quality, engaging magazine that reflected the Housing Corporation as an innovative and world leading authority on social housing.
