At last, the Government has woken up to the fact that employee engagement is a vital part of a business’s success. What started with the Prime Minister giving his official backing to the project in March 2011 has been quietly beavering away over the past 18 months, and the engagement Task Force (as they’ve been dubbed) has just launched the Engage for Success website. It’s a movement “committed to the idea that there is a better way to work, a better way to enable personal growth, organisational growth and ultimately growth for Britain by releasing more of the capability and potential of people at work” – so ultimately supports everything we work towards.
Stemming from the hard work of just two founders, the initiative now has over 50 sponsors, including big names like the NHS, ITV, John Lewis and Barclays. The CEOs of some of the sponsors recently penned an open letter to The Times, highlighting the importance of employee engagement in the UK, which is a particularly interesting read to kick off the project. You can view it here.
We at Engage also play an active role in the project as part of the Guru Group, and our CEO Dr Andy Brown and Head of Consulting Lori Costello will be contributing a lot more in the coming months. The website is full of useful resources and advice, whether you’re new to engagement or a seasoned pro – we highly recommend you see what it has to offer.
